Our Soy wax supplier believes that transparency and trust are key to enabling consumers to make informed choices. They seek to be as open as possible in their approach to issues such as the environment, genetic modification, organic issues and fair trade and are always willing to discuss these matters with customers and consumers on these matters.
The Environment
The continuing deforestation of Amazon and South East Asian rain forests has highlighted the fact that not all "natural" waxes are the same.
All raw materials that make up our waxes are grown in a temperate climate from sustainable sources.
No palm oil is used in our waxes.
Genetic Modification
The proprietary method of processing the beans to create our waxes ensures that any GM material that may have been present is removed. Independent laboratory analysis is available to prove that our waxes contain NO Genetically Modified material.
Organic
Don't believe the hype: no soy wax can claim to be certified organic. Even if the soybean crop were certified organic, the process used to create the wax (hydrogenation) is not chemical free. If anyone claims to offer organic natural wax or candles, ask them to prove it.
Emissions
A burning candle is a complex system involving the fuel, wick and flow of gases. A recent independent study by Okometric GmbH compared the different candle raw materials that are currently available. Our conclusion from that study is that the design of the whole candle, especially the choice of wick, determines the soot and emissions more than the choice between a fully refined paraffin wax and a soy wax.
