African Shea Butter

All of our natural hand made soaps and body butters contain shea butter for its moisturising and protective properties. Our shea butter is fairly traded and pesticide free. Our supplier is directly involved in the entire production process, from harvesting the shea nuts to distribution.

Unrefined shea butter is an important natural resource for West Africa and is a valuable tool in empowering local communities. The members of the woman's co-operative receive a fair and steady income and a large percentage of the income received goes back into the local community in the form of community projects such as AIDS, malaria outreach and education scholarships.

Irou Badi Rahaman (shown in this picture) is a Group Supervisor in charge of making sure the shea oil is not over heated. She has made Shea Butter her entire life. Now she is supporting her three children and paying for their education.
