1. What are Essential Oils?
Essential Oils are volatile substances extracted from a single plant source by distillation or expression. These substances are found in tree bark, roots, leaves, flowers and peel.
2. What makes up an Essential Oil?
A pure Essential Oil is made up of different components, many of which are still unknown to scientists. When combined together, they produce a certain type of "synergy". When the word synergy or "synergistic force" is used in Aromatherapy, it means that when two or more oils are blended and work together, they produce more of an effect than they do when working alone. This synergistic force cannot be copied by synthetic substances i.e. fragrances, as it is impossible to make copies that work as effectively as the real thing.
3. How do Essential Oils work in Aromatherapy and on the body?
Essential oils have therapeutic properties which make them useful for treating certain ailments and conditions using Aromatherapy. There are two ways essential oils can enter the body; smell/inhalation (through the nose) and through absorption through the skin. Essential oils must never be swallowed.
4. Can Essential Oils be used for all skin types?
